Joey King, 22, has been doing some seriously impressive work at the gym that she shared on Instagram this week.
The Kissing Booth star can be seen crushing some heavy sets during a recent lift.
Joey has said her workout routines are beneficial for her mind and her body.
Joey King is strong AF! The star actress from The Kissing Booth, 22, shared a new Instagram video of herself setting a new personal record during a recent lifting session. In the video, Joey is wearing a gray tank, black leggings and socks (with no shoes) while doing a hex bar deadlift. She cranks out an impressive five reps with 140 lbs (her personal record) loaded up on the hex bar.
Her arms and legs are looking seriously strong and toned as she lifts the weight. “Sh*t!” she exclaims to the camera after her last rep. And, yeah, I get it.
All of Joey’s friends and followers were super impressed. Supportive sister Hunter King commented, “LOOK AT YOUUUUU💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼,” and actress Meganne Young wrote, “You make it look so easy!!! Amazing 🔥.”
While some people may get intimidated by the weights section at the gym, Joey definitely isn’t! This type of strength training improves joint strength, builds muscle, and supports weight loss and management.
Using a hex bar while deadlifting, like the one Joey does in her video, is a great way to manage weight distribution and perfectly position your body during the lift, Men’s Health explains. The move targets your hamstrings and glutes.
Joey shared with Byrdie her intense schedule while training for her movie, The Princess, which included three to four hours of skateboarding and stunt practice.
“I wake up, I pack my Gatorade and many liters of water. I eat a big breakfast: a bowl of oats with lots of fruit and some toast. I head to training, where I f**kin’ go for it for a few hours,” she shared with Byrdie.
In her down time, Joey gets her blood pumping outside with some absolutely majestic hikes.
Exercise isn’t just good for her body—it also helps her mental health. “This sounds odd, but I didn’t know I was the type of person that needs exercise to not feel wound up,” Joey told Byrdie. “If I’m feeling pent up and I don’t know why, if I just move my body, then all of a sudden I’m so much more relaxed.”
As for her diet, it’s all about balance for Joey. “If I’m craving a piece of bread or a bowl of pasta, sometimes I just need to listen to my body and indulge,” she told The New Potato in 2017. “You definitely have to find a balance, though, because eating the right things has incredible health and healing benefits. It’s not about how you look—it’s about taking care of your body so you can be the best you.”
The actress also likes to turn up the heat in the kitchen. During a recent appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, Joey taught Drew how to make her family’s famous kugel recipe.
I need that recipe, Joey!
